I tried the shadow resolution at 8kx8k but it looks fake, although precise in other uses, but just fake looking on character models.

4kx4k works really well. And as said 16x is for multiple GPUs, or dual GPU cards, 16x will work on a single GPU but it will push it very hard to the point of burning it.

Hey Dab, what cpu/gpu/monitor setup are you playing on these days?

I have 2, one for dev work one for gaming.

Dev work we won't mention as it cost quite a bit :P

Gaming one has an FX-9590, and a Titan (not z) with a 660 Ti has a dedicated Phsyx+Cuda card.

8GB DDR (don't need more than that).

Was wondering if I should go for the 980 Ti but recently heard it may not be available until 2016... so may stick to my Titan.

My man...very nice indeed. Wonder why it'll be so long for the 980 ti version. I'd like to pick up something else for dedicated PhysX for my Titan Black too. I love all the memory on these Titans.

You doing your other work on an HP workstation by chance? I've always wanted to play on one of those just for grins.

    No its a custom build, SR-2 Motherboard, 2 E7 Xeons, 64GB DDR3, 780 ti with a Quadro 4000 for other stuff.

Bog standard raid 10 with 1TB SATA IIIs (8 of in raid), got a back up raid that is external with own PSU for that just in case moment that may or may not happen.

If anybody wants to know 'where's the Beef' ... mystery solved. Dab's got it. You have that at home, too, or at work? Must be more than just you using it?

When you setup that gpu for Phys-X, do you set it to 'Auto' and it assists the Titan processing the Phys-X or does it handle the Phys-X alone?

At the moment I'm toying with 3 options to go with my current Titan Black: Add another Titan Blk in Sli, a 980 in Sli, or add something just for the Phys-X. Which makes the most sense for gaming?

My goals would be as smooth a 4K as possible and high FPS.

In Nvidia control panel you can assign which card does the Physx stuff or the CPU. Obviously don't use the CPU then it would be like having an AMD GPU in your system.

My dev PC is in my home, I used to own a business then I sold it, and with the cash I bought the first iteration of the PC. My plan was to get back into dev work, had been a long time so it wasn't easy to get work that way.

But for yourself, you could buy a simple 560 ti and set it to be your Physx card, and you don't have to SLI it.
