Have found a way to modify traits.

Traits can be found within script.aod. You can modify them by opening up script.aod with notepad++.

Perk names typically use the following format for example
    Perk_Neg_Unity
This is the unit perk for negotiation

The file has a character count, so when editing any of the perks please ensure you have the same character count as before, otherwise dead state will not open.

    In any case happy modding!

the .aod files are just archives. it becomes significantly easier to edit stuff if you extract them first

Yeah, but how do you edit the .DSO files? That's my problem. I've isolated the ones I want to edit (I think) but I can't figure out how to decompile, edit, and recompile them.

Edit: Nevermind, I answered my own question.
