Well, sadly, AC3 is proving to be a flop for me, too. I mean, they've messed up the controls so much it's pathetic. To shoot the gun you have to hone in with a Precision key, then select the gun from the weapon wheel, then use the tools key to fire it. WTF were they thinking? That process was fine in previous titles, I guess they forgot if it's not broke, don't fix it.
Topping that off, last night I had to give my young Indian friend lessons in killing and skinning animals. I like killing bad guys, not Rabbits, Deer, etc. I tried to just quit the memory but the game kept restarting it anyway.
I hope it gets better from here, so far AC3 is a black mark on the series.

honestly I just tell people to watch the cinematics for AC3 on youtube and then go play AC4:Black Flag lol
I still say that this series lost ALOT when they killed off Desmond. With him it was "the search of the past to acquire knowledge to save us in the present/future." Without him its "run around different time periods stabbing people and climbing on stuff". They lost the Reason for the game.
The other thing that has killed them is every game they introduce an "awesome new system" such as ships and calling for assassin backup to help you, and bombs. While these systems needed some polish, scrapping them all out by the next installment instead of layering them in seriously hurt the game as well.
So after many installments a game that should be fun and layered and intricate has actually gone all the way back to AC2 in terms of gameplay with all the lessons learned since that game, just gone down the tube.
On a side note, i would also like to state that i feel AC style the parkour system needs to be the new movement system in ALL games! So sick of the "WoW" jump system that games are currently using.
considering all the crazy science they've introduced my bet is they will use his DNA to make a clone.
In all honesty the series is in dire need of something because AC4 brought way too much gameplay leaving much to be desired in AC:U and killing off Connor kind of neutered the story a bit.
I'm a huge fan of the series as a whole, even considering the blunders present in it. I really like the narrative side of things, and most are really fun to play.
Unity is so far the one I take most issue with, because the deep narrative I've grown to enjoy is almost completely done away with. The story feels rushed and unimportant, delving very little into the characters, giving me little reason to care.
Even ACIII, the black sheep of the series, did pretty well with developing Connor's backstory and giving him purpose, but Arno feels really out of place and meaningless.
I know most will disagree with me, but I'm a firm believer in don't fix what isn't broken, so having almost identical gameplay isn't a problem for me. The only thing I want to see is returning to the story driven style of Assassin's Creed game.
This is the way I feel about Unity as well. I liked the stories in most of the other AC games but this one just felt out of place I guess. Arno felt like just another guy, he did not feel like he really had a purpose.
I also feel like they went backwards in the combat area in Unity. I know they added different things like the new way free running is done that I thought helped a lot, but they took away old weapons that used to just be fun. I miss the dart rope and poison that actually did something rather than a little bit of damage and was generally a waste.
I am with you on this in that they did not need to fix was was not broken. The same type of gameplay I am fine with, as it is usually the story that draws me in, and Unity just did not have an interesting one.
