The PS3 version played in 1080p, the 360 was 720p locked because it couldn't do 1080p.
Just think 720p was picked for the PC version so it could be played by a bigger user base.
It, the gameplay, was always 720p upscaled to 1080. Which is 1080i not p. There is a big difference. Only the video was at 1080p.

I was playing it only 3 months ago on my PS3 at 1080p, not 1080i. It supports 1080i also, but if the monitor/TV could do 1080p it will be played at 1080p.

I just looked popped the game into the ps3. You sir are correct! BTW, patch just released so 1080p is now available at the proper resolution.
