If they're calling your cell phone, even registering with the ftc's do not call list won't help. It's already illegal for telemarketers to call cell numbers so if you're getting junk calls on a cell, they're either not in the U.S. and/or they are up to something criminal anyways so they don't give a crap... The do not call list only applies to land lines. And even some telemarketing calls will still get through because the do not call list does not prevent anyone from making "political" solicitations (including "will you support/donate to our special interest-type group" calls).

Report the company name and number to the FTC donotcall.gov and they will take care of it in kind. will take up to 30 days but the number will not be able to get through. Plus since they're calling your cell phone, reporting it will get them into legal trouble.

Sometimes by answering the phone and listening through the automated message, there's almost always an option that allows you to get off their list. But you have to listen through the message in order to do that. It's worked for me.
