Just bought this game last night. tried to run it both with trainer and without.
the game goes through the menus ok but when I start a game it runs 3 seconds of the intro and locks up my whole rig forcing me to hit the reset button. I use SLI and have tried with SLI both enabled and disabled and have tried with and without antialiasing and even tried lowest resolution and detail settings and keep getting the same issue. this game is too expensive and uses too much of my downloads for it to be useless and unplayable. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Specs:
3.6Gh Quad Core i5 2500k
16Gb ram.
2x 1Gb Geforce GTX550ti's (SLI)
Windows 7 (x64)
Latest Nvidia Display Drivers.

It is more than likely your CPU. The games basic requirements as listed on Steam, call for an "Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD". Also unfortunately, I can assure you that it will use more than 1 GB of VRAM. Yes you have two cards, but since this is a "OpenGL" game (not DirectX), there is no Sli profile or dual card usage per se.

His specc's are fine, and should run the game without issue
a quick google turned up this
Link
same problem, with a rig that far exceeds what the game needs, so your assumption would be incorrect
Link
more people with the same problem, 1 person with a R9 290x
@OP
it isn't clear from your post, but i assume you got both the game, and your drivers up to date?
---edit
Further searching says updating GPU driver to 335,23 or more fixes it for most people
