To the OP - Lifetime is a very worthwhile upgrade anyway and isn't exactly going to break the bank. CH is consistent in responding to community requests (as opposed to demands, which don't go over so well ) when they are able to do so, and many enjoyed Divinity: Original Sin even during the (remarkably "put-together" feeling) beta.
Let's be totally reasonable. Is it fair to just pretend like all the work that 0x90 put into the trainers before the game went gold, with ALL the stuff you can adjust, edit, and cheat, somehow shouldn't count for him just because you disagree with other CH members who requested a trainer for the game?
While you may not intentionally be saying that, it's the unfortunate logical consequence of what you're trying to get across. You're - I think unintentionally, but nonetheless - saying
"I don't care what the community wants, and I don't value the author's time or effort, cater to my whims only!"
Which is a really uncool thing to say given the really cool stuff that membership here gets you. And yeah, if you're not lifetime, you won't be able to download trainers for games with - how many patches has Borderlands had for all its DLC, etc.? 50+? How about CoH 2, that one gets patched darned near twice a week. And all of that means they have to redownload the game, look for that little bit of memory that got moved around, and fix it. Times the whole catalog of games that they maintain. Two authors doing the bulk of the work (and I remember when it was mainly just Cal, too, dancing as fast as possible - 0x90 was an EXCELLENT addition to the staff, but they're still running lean to provide as much content as they do!!).
If you don't care about the community's wishes, or the author's work, or the owners' money, may I finally inquire what it is you're after, here?
