Regarding the Cheats, Cheat Codes & Hints.

open BALDUR.INI

input into [Game Options] "Cheats=1"

inside the game press [Ctrl]+[TAB] to open console

There are more cheats, but this is only about HP cheat. For rest, you have to use google.
You can hack the game via HEX editor, to get max stats (25 max) and edit inventory - via that, you can have 2x1H weapon or as a warrior, you can use moonblade etc.

First about the pluses of this cheat
1. You can have even 4000 HP, but you still wont be able to kill Drizzt without planning and some good gear
2. You can import this char into Baldur's Gate 2

Now the negative side of this cheat O.o
It takes a long time to get a thousands of HP.

The cheat for HP works best with highest constitution to get max HP per lvl up. If you do not know how to hack constitution, you can use potion to increase it - bonus is only temporary, but HP after leveling is permanent.
For those who did not get it after playing, you can save your char and start all over - while playing, you can find books that will increase your stats - via this, you can increase your stats to max without cheats - but it takes a lot of time.
Or - CLUAConsole:CreateItem("BOOK03" ) - constitution book .. use it without the space at the end - I had to make one, otherwise it would be smile

Point of this guide is, to use cheat for exp and get max level right at the start, save (export) char and start over - import the char.
Use the cheat again and repeat this as much as you want.

Problem is this:
You have lvl 1 and you have like 10HP. You will exp your char to max lvl and use LVL UP, you will have like 50 HP - depends on the class.
When you import your char and start over, you will lose some of it - you will have like 30-40 HP. But still, thats like 20HP for nothing.
Sometime it is less, sometimes it is more.

You can lvl up one level after another, or all at once.
Before lvling up, save the game and lvl up - you can load the game and try your luck again - it can give you more hp, but its a waste of time.

So, the cheat for exp is: CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(#)

I played this game more than 10 years ago, so I do not remember correctly everything, but I believe that I did not forget anything critical.
I hope, that when starting new game, you will get automatically lvl 1, that I did not had to cheat it If yes .. well, you know what to do
