Playing Ambition mode, wondering if there's a way of making my bodyguard officers do more damage/attack more/be more successful?
I know I can 'spend' allies to upgrade their skill, but that doesn't seem to make them stronger overall. I noticed that differing difficulties affected their stats more, and they used better Ex weapons after i sold the weak (1-3 dots) weapons, but I wonder if I level them up myself by playing as them, if they will get better as bodyguards?

Slightly better if you had leveled up them, but enemies especially in huge numbers & high morale & enemies using playable general can still wipe up your leveled bodyguard pretty easily, especially if they are fighting single handedly
1. Try to use higher fee bodyguard, since they are stronger
2. Try to level up their level to the max to increase the numbers of times of the skill that they can perform
3. Always prefer playable general as bodyguard than generic general, despite it very costly (the cheapests one cost 31 bodyguard fee)
4. Compose bodyguard squad of 3 people with support skill that supported themselves like rouse skill, especially protect + attack + defense, also it work best with allied defense skill
5. Use them in group to do their task, for example sending all your bodyguard to guard just 1 location will allow much bigger success rate than sending them alone to each guard 3 locations simultaneously
6. Never send them to attack enemies commander in later stage and in chaos & ultimate difficulties, especially in early time of the stage when you playing, since the enemy would easily wipe out all your bodyguard very quickly in very short times, due to your bodyguard AI will likely choose to directly charge towards enemy commander base by selecting the shortest route, not the safest one (usually that means moving through many enemy bases that full of enemies & worse, then they usually get stuck in the enemy bases or even against its gatekeeper, wasting their times & health)
7. Never send your bodyguard alone to attack any enemy generals in red stage without proper support, especially in ultimate difficulty (powered up version that usually have 9.9 difficulty)
If you want better damage & attack, use bodyguard with rouse skill that supported attack
Leveling their skill will gradually help them become more successful
For example, if your bodyguard have 3 allied charge skill, it means he can use that to charge enemy base with allies support three times, thus helping them to be more successful
