If you buy retail, the key won't be redeemable on steam, only uPlay, at least was like that for AC4.

Well in theroy. One of the Tom Clancy games I have is linked through Uplay only but the only trainer for it is the one connected via steam and that does not work with mine. So with that and what me baby said I can go by that experiance.
