Titan for gaming? Utter waste.
780ti single or SLI dual config is the most you need. Don't bother with anything else. If you do enough research I guarantee you will come to the same conclusion.
As for the motherboard and what kinda of 780ti. I leave the rest up to you.
I just researched the 780, turns out it is the same chip as a titan, just a little slower and it doesn't have the computing options the titan has (I really don't need that, I don't mine bitcoins and I am not a research lab). So the real question is: should I get 2 780s in sli or wait on the 790. Thanks all help is appreciated.
I should note this is for a single 1600x900 monitor.

GTX Titan / 2 780s SLI would be more suited to 1440p or UHD resolutions. Unless you plan on upgrading your monitor to either of those, you shouldn't waste that much money on it. My single 780 was overkill for a 1080p resolution and maxed everything I threw at it. I have a UHD monitor now and it powers that resolution decently well for the games I play (Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2).

In that case I think i'll just go with 1 780 for now and see how that works. So far though my 560 has been able to max most of the games I play, but it has stumbled with some of the newer ones (assassin's creed 4, theif, x rebirth) granted X Rebirth was poorly optimized. Thanks all you have saved me a lot of money and time.
Update, I found out that I don't need PCIe 3.0 slots for the gtx 780 ti because it is backwards compatible. So instead of having to build an entire new computer all I need to do right now is to buy the card, my psu is 700w and should be able to handle it with no trouble. I was worried for a minute there my rig is only a year and a half old, I was almost about to go and build a completely new one. phew thanks guys
There was a thread on this recently, look here:

Thanks, this is exactly what i'm planning on doing, this way I don't have to buy a new cpu, gpu, cpu cooler, motherboard, and power supply at the same time. The cost of this project just came down from 3,500 to 1,000, because I may still need a new power supply.
