So pretty much, the trainer shouldn't be triggering a VAC ban, I don't even know anymore.
But I've decided to lay low and stop playing for a bit to see if I'd get VAC'd for using the trainer online or not, I didn't see the VAC enabled getting added at all or I would've stopped.

I still think the soft ban thing is bull****.
But to the person arguing that it is based on soul level - it isn't. It is based on soul MEMORY, which is that number in the upper right corner of your character stat screen. This is an aggregate total of all the souls your character has earned through any source - killing people, soul items, etc. If you add souls through the trainer though, it doesn't count. But you can reset/add to soul memory via the trainer.

I disagree, softban is THE way to keep a maximum number of people happy. I can keep the part with the messages and the blood pools but I can't compete with others due to 'illegal' advantages on my behalf. That's fair and square. Since I really like the coop at the mom and want to farm at least one more sunlight medal, we could try to pool ourselves by adjusting the coop options and use all the same gesture.
I recommend: heirs to the sun (sunbro), name engraved ring with Kremmel, god of struggle and a soul memory of about 15 mill, put your summon signs up in the dr castle close to the kings door.
Better to reign in hell, than to serve in heaven.

I am still trying to figure out what triggered people being soft banned, if that is indeed what happened. It HAS to be people editing stats. I have been using the trainer for a few days now and am not soft banned, but I have not once edited my character stats. I've done everything else though - unlimited spell casts, item usage, stam, health, fast kills, added souls, reset soul memory, added to soul memory, etc.
My guess is maybe there's some kind of serverside check that synchs your SL to your stats, and if it's out of whack, soft ban?

That's probably the most logical explanation; since it's probably also the best way for the devs to prevent the most nefarious instances of 'twinking'. Still, with infinite Bonfire Ascetics and one-hit kills, it's not like you can't get +2 versions of the better rings in the game, with little to no effort...
If they end up adding more criteria (I think item counts would be the next step, since there are maximums of some in each playthrough,) I think they'll be shooting themselves in the feet, because things like trainers/cheats/CoSMOS really continued breathing life into the original PC port and kept things moderately interesting, some time after its release. Oh well, just a short oversight to please infantile players who think that one or two measly "hackers" invading their game "completely ruined their overall experience of the game", even though some of us just used it in co-op to make the boss battle a real breeze, or to generally help other players when we could.
