Actually, VAC sometimes don't delay bans. I don't know what criteria they use, but when I hacked the f*** out of Rust (teleport, instakill, noclip, etc) I got banned in 2 hours by VAC.
Everyone was saying the same thing about VAC flagging and then way later banning on Rust too, but it was proven wrong, so watch out !
I didn't cheat on DS2 yet (I tend to first end the game, and NG+ in this case, legitimatelly and then go nuts cheating), and I'm currently doing only PVE with the Champions Covenant, so I'm offline most of the time to avoid invasions, gonna check later when I'm home.

Rust didn't use VAC for its initial banwave, they used their own internal program (which basically rootkitted your PC in many ways) to ban that initial 6000 people or so.
it seems like theres mixed feelings here, but it totally feels like ive been MP banned lol. i decided to use the stat hack just for fun, and since then, ive had real trouble with MP. when i connect into a game, it kicks me out pretty quick.. and the only MP battles i seem to be able to stay in, are with other hackers..
take it as you will, but to me, it feels like ive been thrown on a hackers only server. when that fails, and i get thrown onto a regular players server, it kicks me off right away with no warning.
so my warning is to be safe, and stay away from using cheats online. i definitely feel like theyre starting to crack down one way or another. i just hope i havent ruined my chances of PVP'ing completely. it would totally suck to have to create a new account and rebuy DS2 just to play online..

Yep, a new account with a new IP address and a new copy of the game.

I really think it's just your online being messed up. They aren't going to "soft ban" people like that without telling anyone that they are doing it. I've been using everything but stats on the trainer and can connect to people fine.
