Wouldn't it just be easier to launch the game from Steam in offline mode?

What firewall you using? Try to google the ports the game uses and block them specifically with your firewall.

If you guys haven't worked it out yet you can just burn a human effigy at the bonfire that stops invades and most co op.

game is VAC enabled now according to it's page, if that makes any difference?

I'm wondering that as well. I don't play co-op and I use effigies to avoid invasions. I don't want to get VAC-banned.

Yeah, they've added VAC protection to the game.
So I'm curious as to whether using the trainer will get us banned. As I understand it, we can play offline, and that should be fine. The problem is, I like playing with other players (just not AGAINST others), so offline mode would stop all the messages and blood stains and summon signs. Which sucks.

I've been playing it safe since we haven't heard anything about how the game handles cheats. So anytime I need to do anything with the trainer I just put my Steam into offline mode and then do my item duplication or whatever. Then go back online, I'm assuming nothing will change using this. Although it really depends with how VAC works if it checks memory editing only while connected to it's server or if it verifies your save file.
