So after trying the trainer for the first time, I found gold option gives an absurd amount of gold which I will not be able to spend in 5 playthroughs, therefore I would like to decrease this value using CoSMOS because I simply cannot spend it all and I just needed a small boost (since I'm in Ironman mode can't use the console). I can't find the address but cannot edit the value. Any help would be great.

Im having the same issue. While you might think having to much gold isnt a problem it basically breaks the option of exporting the CK2 save game to EU4.
The amount is actually turned negative. And when you are several million in the red. Your will go bankrupt. Unless you use the CoSMOS for EU4 that is hehe.

Interesting, I do believe that's an issue of integer overflow causing that. I forgot to post back here but CoSMOS does work, but for some reason requires a lot of attempts. Also, remember gold also has a decimal value, so you don't just have 867, you have to mouse over and it can be something like 866.8. Good luck.

If you have access to savegames then you can edit those, you just have to search for your characther name and find the heading Wealth and edit it to what you want.
Be aware that saves are packed, but can be unpacked with 7-zip. I do know quicksaves are not packed though.

Picked up the following way to locate and change the gold value in CK2 using CoSMOS. It has worked for me with every patch and I just tested it again.
How to locate gold: Use CE with the following setting. Scan type= Value between Value Type= 4 Byte Use "Wealth*(2^15)" and "(Wealth+1)*(2^15)" in the Value fields. NB! Ignore decimal values Example= If wealth = 25 Then "25*(2^15)" and "(25+1)*(2^15)" If Wealth = 25.261 Then "25*(2^15)" and "(25+1)*(2^15)" Continue until you have like 2 or three equal values left.
The value you will locate will look strange. When I had like 44 wealth/gold it was something like "1474109"
In order to find the value I had to change it to in order to get more gold use the following fomula in Excel or Open office calc.
=wantedwealth*(2^15)
To Help you out I include the value for 8000 Wealth/Gold it is : "262144000"
