Noticed the reset but only in high changes. It is useful at the current state or should it be removed?
Didn't try low changes. Hahaha...
Please don't remove. The Editor still useful. Just have to change it when needed.

Works fine for me and I changed all my stats to the maximum, for several games...
Not sure if I might have done something different...

I am having the same issue. I wanted to actually WIN a fight (yes, I can be petty sometimes) - LOL!
I set all my stats to 10 and adjusted the various derived stats to match, close the character sheet (C), then reopened it. Everything was as I set it to be and I saved. The thing is, when I transitioned to a new area, my stats went back to the original values and when I loaded the saved game, they were back to the original values there as well.
I noticed that someone said they made changes that lasted and had done it in a few games. Any ideas why it worked for her and not the rest of us?
This is my first post so, please, forgive me if I dont know the exact etiquette; feel free to correct/advise. Also, if it matters, I am using Win 7 Pro on a dual core PC.
If anyone wants to take the time to talk me through it, I will gladly send my e-mail to save forum space.

Do even the skills reset? I'm aware of for example 'Strength' resets (for me only when I've set it higher than the limit ingame) but skills shouldn't have a limit.

Skills seem to stay changed - at least as far as I can tell. The changed numbers remain, even after save/load or transition. The problem seems to be with stats only. I have tried 10, 9 and 8 - so far, all of them reset to original values.

I doubt it will help but here's basically how I cheat:
I use CoSMOS to edit the Stats (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Etc) while in the character creation screen, and then I max out the Skills (Alchemy, Sword, Dodge, Etc) in-game using 0x90's trainer.
I haven't had any resets as of yet and I've tested it with area transitions, gaining skills and so on...

I assume this trainer will not be updated/fixed. Fair point, if it is virtually impossible, then thanks for what we can get.

It's been awhile since I went back to this game, but would like to confirm that stat "maximization" during character creation will stay permanent, but once game starts, any modification to stats will only be valid for that particular instance.
Once you've reloaded a savegame, or moved to a different instance, the stats will reset to original values.
