this may sound strange, but try to alt tab to the windows desktop and then alt-tab back to the game OR use the keymapped 'START' key (usually numpad 2) to go pause the game and then RESUME and see if that helps.

No dice here, still getting Pummeled in battle mode, Health, Shield and power are still unaffected and i have alt+tabbed countless times in many variations, getting to the point where i just don't understand whats wrong.
Keys/Cards/Timer are the only thing my game is affected by, followed troubleshooting to a T still no dice, im getting frustrated but not at the trainer but at the fact that my game seems to be the only one the alt+tab trick will not work on.
Sucks because i loved this game, and i usually only give it a play through with a trainer to decide if I keep it installed.
Gonna shelf this one for now, hopefully down the line when im not so frustrated with certain coding in games that make trainers work like this.

I know this might sound frustrating but once you were at the main menu did you alt-tab to the windows desktop and then alt-tab back to the game and then press f1 to activate the trainer?
Doing things in this order you should be able to get all options working properly I have tried it myself multiple times and was able to get the same results every time.
The keys for shield/health/power f1/f3/f5 accordingly.
