There are many trainers on the site that need for you to have IE9, not just this one. Many users of Win 7 have rolled back to IE9 without issue and not just for trainers. Lots of instances of "How Tos" around the web.
I don't believe Win 8 users can revert back, though. Another member offered up another solution that he said worked for him. I'm referring to "Dlenny2259" on this page:

I use Win 7 so I have no experience trying that in Win 8. It's not the trainer that decides, it's the user. I just bought a new PC and got Win 7 for exactly one reason: To use some trainers here that work better with Win 7/IE9. And the user decides whether to revert back to IE9 to be able to use some trainers that require it. Just sayin. YMMV.
