Actually they are needed if you want to complete the game fully, they unlock tech upgrades etc.
That doesn't matter with the Bane glitch you are stuck in a room and can't get out because Bane isn't there...
One problem I have been stating for a long time, people who get to beta test don't do what they should be doing, and that's report the bugs.
Most people just want to beta test to be first to play a game, no desire to help in the long run.
Would be nice to see the publishers set up a beta test database, of people's names, addresses etc so they can refer to it to see if anyone who beta tested in the past did a good job or not. If not then they are ignored for future testing.
And to make it more secure they should only allow ISP email addresses and no hotmail, gmail etc.
