Personally I am loving it. I like it better than Rome 1 but it isn't as good as Shogun 2. I like the provinces system where to control a province I have to conquer all the cities and towns in it and not just one city or town.
The squalor thing is annoying though.
I'ma a huge Total war fan too, and I'm enjoying the new features CA introduced with Rome 2. Amongst all other, I like the use of ships in coastal battles, as well as naval battles.
The squalor thing can be softened (or removed, but having it just a little isn't so bad) modifying buildings stat with Pack file Manager or using the squalor reduction mod.
What I don't like is that battles aere too short: men dies like flies and formations flee in 15 seconds. But that's something you can change too so...
I'm an absolute massive fan of the original. Rome for me is the pinnacle of the series and maybe all RTS's. However I've been hearing mixed things about this one... How does this game compare to the original? Does it live up to the hype or disappoint?
Worth Getting!

The coastal battles are awesome. I love being able to bring reinforcements in from the sea.
