as already mentioned, you cant disable STEAM updates, but you can disable RTW2 updates but you have to keep your game in an OFFLINE status.
1. Log in when you are online, and select PLAY OFFLINE
2. Disable automatic updates in RTW2 properties section
3. Obtain OFFLINE code from CH
When you log back into steam, you will play RTW2 offline, and no updates will install. Once you play RTW2 in online mode, the updates will automatically happen.
Thanks CH, trainer still works great.
Hello.
I just wanted to say that if you just choose not to allow the update of the game that does not work because the update is forced.
The only way is to steam in offline mode.
I conclude my message by saying, as last Friday, even in offline mode update will because steam will force you to log in online mode to work and where there will be an update of Rome 2 that you have authorized or not.
I wish you a good day.
I did what I posted and well, Im still playing with the trainer activated thank you.

Yes I understand but I only complements your message by the experiance that I already had the last week (as well as many members of this website person) with this game.
I would like to say for the record that I do not agree with those who have suggested that the trainer should be put on hold.
Before I go on this is not my way of trying to pressure CH into being faster with a new version. Not even remotely. I just want that to be crystal clear.
My reason for being against putting games on hold if there is too much patching is simple.
It sends the wrong message to game developers. For some reason many game developers seem hell bent on coming up with ways to prevent trainers and cheats (as attested to by the CH team on several occasions). Whatever their reasoning for it is (I personally don't get it) 'rewarding' them with this policy of putting trainers on hold is not the answer.
I am not saying they are releasing these hot-fixes and patches for exactly that reason. But still, no point in making the practice of frequent patches more appealing to them. It should be the opposite.
What we should be fighting for is that they deliver more stable products. This is the only way to alleviate the added stress these patches cause for teams like CH and also the players themselves.
I also have noticed, just like a previous poster that these patches seem to be making things worse at least half of the time (the first patch made the game unplayable for me, the previous patch made the game reasonably playable and now ... it's back on the other end of the scale).
As much as I hate the added stress for teams like CH. I am afraid that at present it's a sad 'fact of life' for the creators of trainers. Doesn't make it right in any way, it just is what it is until players unite and demand an organization (with the right resources) to defend their rights. And not just with regards to stable products, but also with regards to unfair EULA's and other such non-sense.
Some people talk of a possible class action against Sega. Because it would have required Creative Assembly to market this game 2 or 3 months before the release of which would be expected that in order to complete the game to present account more favorable to shareholders company. This will explain the reason for all these bugs and these optimization problems.

now I understand what you are saying. Yes, Steam must be in offline mode with the RTW2 settings to Disable Auto Update.
