Looks like this game is actually going to be released after all. Steam are currently offering it for purchase with prior release options. Just wondered if you might have known about this and been able to review this product or started on a trainer?

There might be. Just have to wait and see. But it did catch my eye. I have to say.

Does anyone know if this is supposed to be a prequel to EU or was this marketed as a spinoff for the XCOM universe?

I have it and im sorry I do the controls are aweful. For example in the very first mission you leave a room walk down a corridor and then need to use cover to move on. you have to press A and D as well as Left shift while faceing the cover took me twenty minutes to get past the first 2 minutes of the game frustration factor is high.

also the game crashed twice (i have all the latest drivers)

Nothing like EU better left for the patches and bargin bin IMHO your miliage may vary

I played thru the first part of the game it wasn't really too bad, used the DX11 ver (even though the steam overlay didn't work but thats kinda w/e to me). You are right though this game is nothing like EU, if you enjoy a 3rd person squad based shooter set in the XCOM universe its not too bad of a game. If you're expecting anything similar at all to EU (asides from the permadeath thing) you're in for a lot of disappointment. The story does not connect to EU at all so don't expect any kind of answers or revelations. All in all if you treat it as a spinoff game based in the XCOM universe you might enjoy it, not sure if its worth 50 dollars yet but we'll see.

I was fine on that, its basically similar controls to most FPS games for wall hugging.

Don't blame the game for your poor peformance :P

But on a side note, the game is so far very good and yes is really a prequel to the first XCOM game (as in the original game from the 90s)

It should have told you at the start or you just ignored it. You are blaming the game again for your own failings :P

Forward + Shift makes you vault, holding left or right at a corner while hiding pressing shift will make you run to the nearest cover, same for on the corner and pressing up and shift will run you forward to cover in front of you.

Pushing away from the hiding spot will move you away and make you stand again.
