Two day ago it was 10€ on steam. Still not convinced, I'm rather thinking about getting The Secret World. Both are supposedly mediocre/bad MMOs.

Defiance is good, you don't really have to buy anything extra as it is mostly in a way cosmetic in a sense.
Secret World is totally different and a memory eater, you will need a decent rig to play it at nice settings, also it gets very tough quickly, first main area is easy, go onto the next part the stakes change very very quickly.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA
