I have not tried it yet ,with this one but, for me all of the CH Civ. trainers the option for 1 turn research does not turn off. I am afraid to try it with this one. Is that a bug, or was it designed that way? I use the trainer just to get a slight advantage, I use only what I need. Has this ever happened to anyone else, or is it just me? If it is a bug, can it be fixed? So far I just have to use some micromanaging with science to achieve a faster result, but sometimes it's just not fast enough.

Research is actually done with points (called 'Science' in the game), the option key gives you 7 or so million of these (from what I understand), which take a lot of time to spend, so it is not a bug and yes it is the way it is made.
It does wear off, but from what I have experienced, it is best to not use it (I was well into the Tech Tree and just kept going).
1 Turn Building & Recruting + Unlimited Movement are what I use since those do not give me problems.

I found the same thing with those actually..
If you are starting from ancient era, the research option will give you A LOT of 1 turn research, like, pretty much up to industrial era (not tested)
later on the research cost a lot more science so it will only last a couple turns (still 10 or so turns)
