Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Message Board  

Does anybody knows if the Ewiger Krieg mod work with steam. I'm still play this game mod on the old server. I know i got to switch to steam soon and I really like this mod, just wondering. if this mod will work once i switch to steam. Thanks Guys???

I am the author of Ewiger Krieg, however not having the Steam Edition of COH, I must admit that I do not know if it even has mod-support.


Ironically, the best way to find out is to try at this point...

The reason being is that Relic no longer really exists, and they are merely an extension of SEGA at this point. That being the case, they are vehemently anti-community and anti-modding, so between SEGA's/Relic's stance on modding and Steam being a bit of a flaky unknown on their support, I'd only be able to say:

"give it a shot, but don't expect too much"


If it works, wonderful, but I honestly don't have overly high hopes for it.

Well, I genuinely hope to have at least some ability to tinker with the new Company of Heroes 2, however I have VERY little hope of that...

The current state of things is not really that good... The developer, Relic Studios, was bought out by SEGA, and both are notorious for screwing with the modding communities of their games, but SEGA especially has made concerted efforts against modders of their recent titles like the Total War series (SEGA also bought up Creative Assembly, the developer of Total War).


If I can, I will tinker around and hopefully make some fun things for COH2, but I can't make any promises.

Yea, I know what u mean. All these BS against modding a game or use trainers on a games. We should be able to do whatever we want to the game to our liking once we purchase it. There's nothing wrong about modding or use a trainer on a game for entertaining purpose. It's like we buy a car and we can't modified the car or put any nice rims on it because the car manufacturer won't allow it. Those suckers games developers think it's really going to motivate people to keep on playing their games. But i think it's just pushing gamers away and moved on to new games. Because they can't do nothing else with it once they are done playing the game. People should be able to mod the games and replay the games with mods or trainers and so on. I still play COH to this day because of your mod Knightpress. and still one of my all time favorites. Now without this mod it seems not as fun.

It would seem that Ewiger Krieg DOES actually work with the Steam re-release of COH.

grandovan, great guy and long time supporter of Ewiger Krieg, fiddled with it himself and has confirmed it working for me, so give it a go and if in doubt check the Steam COH message boards as well, for fellow Steam-COH players who've enabled their mods.

First of all - many thanks to Knightpress. I am really great lover of Ewiger Krieg mode, but just only trying to hold on and survive. I am a mayor of 800 people village in Czech republic recently overrun by great flood, so I know what great men and women really mean. But oh yes, it was still not real war.
So - put all ewiger folders to directory with main data of Company of Heroes RELUNCH!where the .exe file is in steam apps directory. In Steam library of the games right click on the game, choose options and there is something like "start option" - to this next empty box feel free tu put exactly -dev -mod Ewiger_Krieg and you should add -unlock_all_missions (it will unlock all missions). Just one line, keep the spaces between the words. Between -... there is no space.
So just try - for me it works perfect.
