LOL? Leaderboards indeed. I knew they would not be able to back up that first quote on supporting modders and how important we are to them.
Maybe they are just so incompetent they can't make up their minds.

I may see if I can get my money back from steam... I doubt it alot but I did buy it for its mod potential and it has been altered after purchase, may get away with just playing the EU citizen card that overrides their agreement on refunds. I would on the other hand feel bad if I did as it's not steam's fault relic are being such nubs.

unfortunately, Relic bankrupted and Sega is still there. I would love seeing Sega smashing and be redeem by Betehesda.

Thx for the good news! Tis sad that Sega has not been burned as well! You are right, I think Bethesda should just make all games from now on. From pandemonium to Halo can be given an epic mon epicness if Bethesda were to start running sh*t around the games industry.

Bethesda definitely knows how to treat the modding community well. Wish all game companies were as cool about modding instead of trying to stop it at all cost.

noun: Well people are still playing CoH. I'm sure there were some people who got bored of that game within the first month.
But it's still very popular, and we're seeing the same thing in CoH 2 which has more content than CoH did at launch.

1: There are custom games.
2: Lots of things annoy people. We're working to address many of them. However there's always going to be people who get bored of things.

user: custom games that no one can join except if he is on your friendslist dont help anyone, and will keep away lots of people from the game, same thing with removing mod support at release day. and now dont say that unlike other developers you dont block mods, cause you are doing it.

noun: We aren't blocking mods. We're just not actively supporting them at the moment because we're focused on improving the core game experience first.

user: if you dont block them, how it comes that they cant be used since release? thats all what the modders want currently, just reenable them and they will be happy. they worked fine in closed beta and before the last beta update.

Well, sadly it is "their ball" and we are only allowed to play with it so long as we play by their rules...

At least that is their high opinion of their position...

There -WILL- be modding of the game, with or without their permission but it will almost certainly require entirely off-line play and a "modified .exe" to re-enable -dev mode, and thus modded files to be loaded by the .exe which is currently disabled by the proper .exe file.


How well, and how much could be done that way however remains to be seen...

Thx everyone for the input and keeping us all up to date on what is going on. I would also like to keep this topic alive until the dev matter is resolved, for some people crawling through the coh2 forums is a real mess right now. As of right now I have heard from an albeit unreliable source that the -dev mode will be replaced by mod folders like dow2. We can also expect to see these changes by early 2014.
After we have been force fed crap loads of DLC and "stuff" we don't want! like leaderboards.
