I had a double whammy on that side in terms of instant hearing damage sound levels.
First, a-hole artillery reenactors. I was the last file closer in line as we passed an artillery battery. There is a point where the concussion from a blank artillery round firing off is greatest, it is essentially parallel to the muzzle on the sides. And that is exactly where I was. And the artillery guys didn't give us any warning. I got pulled out of the fight and sent to the hospital because my ear was bleeding.
Second, big explosion right next to my head.
Drumming in a small room where all the sound bounces off back into your ears.
Did that for years then wondered why my ears were ringing all the time...
dur.
