If you do not have the "AppData\Local\Packages" folder, and DO have the "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon\Local Storage" folder, this is a tutorial to be able to edit your savegames.
You will need: 1. The game (Win7 is the version I use) 2. A text editor (I use Notepad++ Link) 3. An SQLite database browser ( I use Link) 4. Basic knowledge 5. A backup of your save file Once you have all of the above, you can begin.
Open your SQLite browser (Once again, I will be using SQLite Browser. Link
Open a slot_x file, or the slot_auto key by double clicking ( I prefer slot one because it allows me to not load it if I choose.) Hit Export at the top of the menu that came up and save it somewhere you can navigate to. Link
In here you can edit everything about your save. Common keywords are: cash dF (Design)* tF (Technology)* speedF (Speed)* experience researchF (Research)* salary (Putting a negative number MAY work, untested.) researchPoints (Number of "RP" *Put double what you want the number to be, with the decimal between the 1000's and 100's.(EG: "tF":5.603 will give you 2801 techonogy in game. ) Link
Once you edit the values, save the file, and push the "Import" button back in the SQLite Browser. Link
Hit the floppy disk and save the file Link Load the save in game!
Some edits may not show up in game, and you MAY corrupt your save game.
An edited SLOT 2 good start for those who cannot modify their own. (5 million fans, 7 billion dollars, 500k research points, stats edited for main player. Should also get all the reasearch unlocked when you research game engine.) Link

I have a question. WHen I do everything, the only thing in the file that I open via Notepad++ is the name of the slot. HALP!

When he says to double-click, double-click the the entry under the "Value" tab, not the "key" tab. You should be able to edit the values in Notepad++ if you do that.

Hey Akono,
Don't click on the name of the slot (i.e. slot_1) but click on the 2nd line that's right behind it. That'll open up the logs for your slot_1 savedata.

Alternatively you can edit the text using the browser and then save the file after editiing.
