well with what you are describing it sounds like this game is a giant mess and a huge time suck hole.. we may not even support it when it is in full release instead of beta or whatever..
thanks for the warnings...

They also have a modified code for anyone using a cracked version from a popular file-sharing site. Playing the cracked version of the game dooms the player's business to fail constantly due to piracy. The only way to bypass it is to use a legit version of the game. They say they did such as a "social experiment" to show the player the impact of using cracked versions from a popular file-sharing site.
Not sure, but this may be another thing they have purposefully programmed in.

That by the way is an epic and hilarious way to get back at pirates.
The devs did put that piracy bit in deliberately. Then they uploaded their 'cracked' version to file sharing sites. Which again is hilarious, the fact that it got over 3,000 downloads is sad, but the forum postings make up for it.
It's schadenfreude, seeing pirats whine about piracy. It is karmic. I wish more devs would do this, back in the 16 bit era they were worse. Earthbound was the most famous.
Anyhow, bought the game, loving it, going to give the savegame editor a try and if that fails go fire up an SQLite browser
