I've had the same .NET crash problem like many others.
I managed to get the trainer working by doing the following:
1. Started the trainer. 2. Started the game. 3. Went to launchpad with a craft ready for launch. 4. Launched the craft into space. 5. Set timewarp. 6. Started the trainer. 7. Landed the craft.
Due to engine sounds I didn't hear if the trainer launched but upon landing and then following the instructions for science points et al I got them working without the trainer crashing and throwing up the error report.
Hope it helps someone out there.
I'd also like to thank 0x90 for the work. Much love.

I followed exactly what Muddeh did, but half the time the trainer gave me .NET errors before a second Activated sound. The other half the time, it gave me a second sound just fine, but whenever I tried to use the infinite fuel option, or the science option in the science center, it gave me .NET errors. I really only want to use this for the science option, for anything else I'm fine with using the Debug tool. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?

meh, couldn't get it to work after the last micro patch for the launcher, but then all I wanted was the science point...
you can get those by simply editing your save game persistant.sfs file with notepad++ or some such, search for sci = and change the value to whatever you desire.

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled.
For example:
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box.
This is all you get when you try this "cheat" with this program currently...Crashes everytime and cannot even begin to go through the steps for the cheat instructions as it crashes before you get past looking at a rocket pretty much.
Will try that debug mode code and see if that works.
