I am just pointing out the obvious truth for a game to be truly offline you can't have any online elements, and have the ability to save locally.
You can't with the editing of a couple of lines.
So they were right, you can't play offline.
It's not difficult to understand.
Maxis needs to implement an offline patch that allows players to save locally. Making Sim City always online was a mistake.
It is not a point of misunderstanding but differing points of view. I am a consumer of their products and an outsider. You are an insider and clearly looking at it differently.
Bottom-line, my opinion is that and it will remain that no matter what you say or any other way you think of to put me down.
i have to agree, with all do respect dabhand posts are totally unobjective to say the least.

They are that, from his point of view. My point, maybe not made clearly enough, was they lied about the possibility and ease of an offline mode. Regardless of all the bells and whistles added by danhand/EA in his remarks and the inability to save the game. I don't care about that.
That was never my point. Only that the offline mode is available, no matter how it looks.
I would like to see dabhand take his unobjective opinion to the EA SimCity boards and see what kind of response he will get there, since he is non-biased and all.

I wouldn't say they 'lied' about an offline mode, but it is odd how up until last year there was no mention of the always on requirement, then it suddenly shows up, am I being too cynical in assuming the EA beancounters/suits wanted that in?
I doubt EA will ever put in an official offline mode, like I said in one of the other threads, they can simply update offline mode and ban anyone using the mod (see their no modding stance on the forums from a few days back, I wonder if that's just the new SimCity or if it's all games? ME3 has a huge modding scene)
Personally, DABHand has experience of the industry, so I'd listen to him more than people making unsubstantiated claims, simply because (and I'm sure he's under NDAs), he knows what he's talking about
Quoting Neo from the cheating in non sandbox mode thread, his last post before it got locked: As long as the game is online only, no cheats will be made for it.
