How you guys kill the first boss in order to get the first Ys book? I cannot kill using my sword.

Ys 1 updated again, unsure what was altered, nothing with Ys 2 so far.
As a minor request would it be possible to also freeze follower health? (I lost the save as I hadn't actually saved at all until that point but it's fairly early on in the first game just in the first real dungeon, there you are tasked with escorting a certain person and since monsters spawn all the time and she has something like 15% health left to begin with I was kinda caught unprepared, thus the question.)

Yep there was a small patch but current trainer should work.

Ah I see, I assumed the changed exe file meant it would need to be updated again but if it's already compatible that's great.
EDIT: The game updated for a second time but if the previous trainer update was compatible with the previous patch it probably still works with this new update.

Looks like another group of patches were released, both for Ys1 and Ys2. (Exe, config file and for Ys 2 a number of data files.)
Unsure what they updated this time. (Just thought I should mention it but I guess it's pretty noticeable when Steam updates a title.)

That's excellent.
Interesting that the trainer is still compatible after two patches, maybe it's the way they update the games or perhaps it's just due to it being mostly minor adjustments that the trainer doesn't need to be re-adjusted to the new exe. (Or maybe the exe is just kept relatively simple without various DRM or other code wrapped around.)
