[Post your own gripes and comments in here as well regarding AC3!]

So, I was hoping to enjoy AC3 as the hype was going out of control up until release and... the PC version is absolute garbage. At least for me anyways, some of the worst technical bugs I have ever experienced in a triple A game. (None of these things occurred in previous AC series games on PC!)

    They include:
Horrible clipping on characters and NPC's alike. (On Desmond and Connor?! R U SRS?!)
Horrible Pop-in/"render rate". (Entire squad patrols just pop in at about ~20m in-game and normal npcs as well! Rather annoying)
And worst of all: during cutscenes that are outside, the light rendering system is broken for certain nVidia gfx cards so characters' hair start turning red, green or blue which flashes continuously until the scene is over!

Ultimately, the most broken and un-immersive (really big deal) triple A game ever for me. Having a hard time just beating it because of these bugs.

These things may just be directly correlated to my rig which is modest to say the least, but even on maxed out settings these things still occur for me! So grrr...

On the plus side, the Naval battles are very well done. Wish there were more missions for it though.

You need a very nice GPU to play AC3 on full settings.

You also have to understand, that the GPU on the PS3 and 360 doesn't match the PCs, so the game on the consoles are deceptively on lower settings.

I have never met any clipping or render problems with AC3 on the PC, infact it is so much nicer to look at than the console versions.

But I think PC auto-selects specific graphic options, so it may be based on your GPU which may not be good enough to show characters at a distance.

I thought when I first got AC3 that this was a pile of pig sh*t but once I'd sorted out my graphical problems, ramp up your GPU voltage by 0.250 or thereabouts, this game just gets more and more involving. There's a myriad of things to do, some pointless (Fanorona!!!) but mostly enjoyable (upgrading Assassin Recruits, completing guild tasks) and the game world is sumptious, on a decent PC, I've seen it on Xbox and PS3 and it's nice but crank up everything on a good PC, and the fluidity, the detail in what happens around you, the bustle of the towns, the wildlife in wilderness, it's just so satisfying to run through the trees, across rooftops, uncover all the map everywhere, maybe it's just me but it's so immerssive that I'm now going through a third playthrough just to enjoy what's around me rather than complete the story.
Reading back through this I've just come to the conclusion that I'm just a sad old gamer.......but love Assassins Creed!!!

that has been a pretty nice praise of a game I don't like so far but I feel you as for the graphics part which are very well developed. After reading your post I'm gonna try get rid of the bug I'm facing and just restart. thx for the motivation

I know I'm an AC fan boy but really, it's really worth persevering with, the is story brilliant (Haytham is such a cool character, was a great surprise!) but I have to admit the way they tied up the ending left a lot to be desired (reminded me of the Mass Effect 3 ending which was inconclusive to say the least!) but the possibilities for future sequels just leave me wanting more, especially if they iron out the glitches on this Anvil engine or whatever they call it, but I would recommend that they do away with the guys who play Connor and Desmond, their delivery is like listening Mogadon or Nytol (sleep enhancing drugs, see your local chemist for details!) as nearly everyone else is pretty much on the ball.
I hope that something approaching a mid-19th century, Europe, Cairo, East Europe scenario is on the cards for the next chapter, maybe even expand on the North American cities (there's lots of areas where you just KNOW that they've left out of this release) where we can continue to enjoy this game....AC3:Tribal, AC3:Philli etc..........

Unfortunately for Connor his story is over, there is nothing in history which could include Connor. Even the Civil War would be out of his reach (would be around 100 year old at that point lol)

So it will be a new hero if they make a new one, I am hoping Japan and the end of the Bushido ways, which started to decline early 19th Century. Hell even Connor with nothing left may have left for Japan, since many western nations wanted to trade with them at that point. Even Americans were employed to teach the Japanese how to fight against the remaining Bushido/Samurai warriors against the current emperor.

I would love it to be Japan, the scenery etc would be sublime.

People have been saying "I hope it is London" etc, nahh not London, its boring, smog and rooftops lol Although the smog would be easy to conceal in, it is just too dark.

French Revolution would have been good but so close to AC3 in time line.

WW1 or WW2 would have been excellent in France, ok it would look depressing, but the French Resistance of WW2 would have been a great cover story for a new Assassin character.

Well if they go to a more modern setting such as WW1 onwards the game play would have to change significantly. Japan would be a nice choice during the Boshin war (Imperials/Shogunate) but the problem would be Desmond's family already being established as a mainly a "Western" family (- the Altair stuff) and hard to picture him being Asian. :\

But anyways, I'm griping away at these bugs because I didn't have these problems on older AC games on my older rig! I run a i5-2500 w/ GTS 250 (which is kind of old at this point) figured it should have been able to perform adequately. :|

I don't think this game could use another time warp.
Would feel odd to play it in the 19th century. I could live with Japan in the 16th century at max but i see this game as it was 12th to 15th century making more sense.

It seems with all the milking of the series there already have been very annoying parts (e.g. Desmond's sequences which didn't interest me at all), so I'm expecting very far fetched stuff in ac4 as well as it already was in ac3. American history and Assassin heritage just doesn't cut it for me.

I'm thinking Japanese with its own long history of assassinations makes much more sense but still I'd prefer a spin-off with Ezio more than anything else. I could feel for his motives but just didn't feel anything in ac3, didn't click.

Actually Revelations was much better than I thought it would be, except for some annoying parts as usual. Why not have this one "sequel(ed)"? We won't be deciding, eh?
