I think one of the better presidents we've had since I've been alive has been ol' Bill Clinton. Sure, he was getting some side-action with Miss Lewisnky, but I'd sooner trust an adulterer who does his job right than a White-Knight Crusader of Justice who couldn't say good morning without lying twice.
Sure, Bill lied about not having sex with her, but think about it for a moment. If he had told the truth, he'd have been crucified by his opponents. If he hid it, there's a chance it could stop being a big issue. He took a gamble, and lost, but the fact remains that either way he could have gone would have gutted him in some way sooner or later.
Also, some of the best presidents in U.S. history have gotten a little extra-marital action, John Kennedy included. Marilyn Monroe was a hottie (And that's coming from a rainbow-y fluffball like me), who could blame JFK for wanting some?
Seems nowadays, politicians in any nation are too caught up in trying to stonewall and neuter the opposing party rather than work towards any common good for the people they serve.
There were a lot of things that Clinton accomplished that I applaud. However, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is one of his worst accomplishments. It helped solidify the demise of manufacturing in the United States.
Personally, I would never vote for Donald Trump even if I were a right-winger. His status as a "birther" proves his ineptness. For goodness sake, while he was still carrying on about Obama being born in a foreign country... the Obama campaign mass produced a coffee mug with a copy of the very birth certificate Trump claimed was never produced. The President had to produce his birth certificate in order to get on the ballots in each state. Any election official could tell you that his proof of birth in the United States was made long before he was first elected president.
Donald Trump may speak his mind, but I can think of plenty of people that do that in the prisons I have worked inside of. I am fairly certain that no one would be eager for an offender to take over the world's largest super-power just because he/she is open to stating his/her opinions. The truth is that business persons are probably the last people we would ever want running a country. They would have too much vested in looking out for their former business(es), and those of their friends. I am not saying that corporate influence is not imposed on other candidates via their contributions, but corporate influence would practically be built in with a business person. In my personal opinion, we are better served electing officials that look out for the citizens of the nation and not the corporations.
