Hi Gere,
How do you change the number of troops you can occupy each rank and increase the number of upgrade points?
Hey Man,
They are both a good question. I've been analysing numbers etc to figure out what specific numbers control the upgrade points for quite some time now and unfortunately, I report having little success. I've looked at every file and every number to try and figure it out and still haven't made any head-way. If you try exploring, let me know how you go with it.
To change the number of troops that can occupy each rank... theres a bit of a work around. I haven't figured out how to do it directly, but there is a way you can get a few more seargents and a few more corporals. I've done some heavy editing on this and still haven't manage to crack the specific numbers that control the number of troops that can occupy a rank.
Now, if you want to have two more seargents and three more corporals on top of the normal three for each, follow these steps:
1. By now you probably know how to increase experience (theres a lot of descriptions around that say change the 15 to something like 200.. well change it to 15000 n that will be enough for this. the specific line you are changing relates only to warrior bugs, there is a line for workers, spitters, royals, brain, etc etc..
2. Play through the first mission and make sure everyone has been ranked up. You should after the first mission have:
1 x 1st lieutenant
1 x 2nd lieutenant
1 x 3rd lieutenant
3 x Seargent
3 x corporal
3 x lance corporal
3. In the next mission, you will rescue J company (or whoever they are) which includes a seagent and 2 corporals from memory.. as well as a few other PFC. At the end of this mission, your ranks should looks something like:
1 x 1st lieutenant
1 x 2nd lieutenant
1 x 3rd lieutenant
4 x Seargent
5 x corporal
6 x lance corporal
1 x PFC
4. In a later mission, Seargent Nixon will join your squad as well so you will have 5 seargents.
Thats the only work around I've found for it. I've figured out a lot to do with the code behind the game through a lot of trial and error. So if you want anything further I might be able to help - like giving all troopers armor (even without a suit) or getting suits from the first level onwards (only for ranked troopers though).
I've tried finding the numbers that relate to how many troopers you can get for each mission, but no success yet. If you figure out this let me know too. Also, I've learned how to give any trooper (including PFC) any weapon as well as a tone of other things. Happy to keep exploring as well! This is an all time favourite game of mine, I really enjoy editing it.
Kind Regards,
Gere
is there a way to get the 1st class maruder suits on the first level? I love this game and have edited alot of files as you said would be interested to hear what you've played around with in this game,
Read somewhere they were planning a lot of expansions for this game but never did, a Newer version of this game would sell like hotcakes if it was turned into a AAA title.
Hey waddup,
Yeah, I can give you 1st class marauder suit in the first level, but its a little annoying on this level. In fact you can have them any level, but the guns dont appear straight away until its the mission you're supposed to get them. So essentially you set the code so you the suits are available. you set up your team and equipment (minus the guns for your 3rd lieutenant because they wont show up). You start the level and exit out of the stage and game as soon as you've landed. Then you change the code back to what it was originally, the guns will now appear. So you go back into the game, go to return mission (not saved game unless you saved it straight after exiting the stage). Then when you go to the weapons screen, all the 'double' weapons will appear. chain gun or plasmacannons would be the best. I've made my chain guns very powerful and longer range though and have a huge amount of ammo (in saying that I've also made the bugs ridiculously hard to kill (with their own armor too) and faster etc.
In short I've figured out a lot of what the code relates to and have heavily edited it, but theres some stuff I'm just still baffled with. Like I'd like to get more upgrade points when finishing a mission, more soldiers in the same rank position and more soldiers each stage. So far, those are just out of my control. But i guess there are a few more things id like to do too.
So roughly what I know:
can edit all bug types and stats (know what each line relates to)
Can edit some bug holes (so you can change experience you get and health of the bug hole).
can edit all troops you begin with and all you meet in the future (all stats, including giving them armor)
can edit all weapons available in the game (like ammo, when they become available, damage, range, etc)
theres a bunch of other things too but id need to see my document outlining the changes again. Happy to help with anything you might want to do though, so let me know what you're looking to do. Also let me know what you've been able to do, I'd love to find out.
Kind Regards,
gere
