A simple workaround that I use for all Steam games is to create a Steam_AppID.txt file in the game folder (Where the exe is.) and in that file enter the game number that Steam has assigned to it.

(Steam page for the game, thus AppID is 223220)

This allows launching the game exe directly (Steam must still be running in the background.) which allows a bit more flexibility on what version of the game to launch when there's multiple exe files or if you want to assign command line parameters via a shortcut or similar though that can also be done in Steam itself now, maybe -dx11 could work as a switch as well, haven't tried.
(Useful for example with Rage or Van-Helsing which has both 32 and 64 bit exe files or directly launching a editor or other tool if it's included, also allows to skip the game launcher if there is one - like with Borderlands 2 - and enter the game directly.)

As for the game there was a 600 MB update yesterday after the previous 1.1 GB update which re-designed the game or added a alternate game mode, something like that, and then a while ago a 300 MB update downloaded, I currently don't know what either of those do or what was fixed/added.
(Haven't tried the latest released trainer yet so I don't know if it's compatible either, lots of games updated yesterday from what I can tell of the Steam download history.)

same problem here as well

did you click the PLAY button on the game launcher such that the ACTUAL GAME is running?

otherwise I have no clue. I just ran the game from steam, then clicked PLAY on the launcher, then pressed F1 and I tested the trainer and it works fine.

if pressing F1 doesn't make any sounds, alt tab out and do it.

did exactly as you did. when i press F1 it just says "trainer cannot find game". gonna have to try to mess with the game settings and see if that helps :P

EDIT: got it to work by changing from DX11 to DX9, plus i now realized it says dx9 version on the trainer god i feel stupid

did you try changing to dx10+11 in the launcher graphics settings?
it was set to dx9 by default for me even though my graphics card is dx11 too..

and thanks for the dx9 trainer, but the game crashes now because its been updated to v1.1.1...
