I agree the ending was very short and not very descriptive of what events transpired after it with any of the characters (What happens to XCOM after the ending? How does the world react now?). I was also very attached to my squad, as I customized each one with a new look and name (saved after each turn, and then did classic ironman and thought out each turn carefully for like a minute since you can't save).

There is a lot to build off of in this game, and hopefully more DLC comes out with far more to peak our interest. I would love to see the inventory make a comeback from UFO defense (seriously, I didn't see anything wrong with it, just make the troops assume they need to bring sufficient ammo for each gun they lug around, how hard is that? Same for grenades, except put them on a CD for like 5 turns or something).

Eh, count the blessings it isn't like bioware's fiascos *cough cough* ME3, DA2 *cough cough*

Good God, you must be one heck of a gamer.....I'm still in the beginning all week (LMAO)

I beat it on Classic Mode the day it released.

OP, what are you talking about? You must not have played the originals, because this ending blew them out of the freaking water. I thought it was great...all like 7 times I've seen it lol.

I have played the originals, the ending for EU was crap. Plain and simple. The game is great and I love it, but the ending was a huge let down after all that hard work and no option to join the Ethereals either...

Things I did notice while playing...

Obviously China will be important for the next DLC which will be released in December if they stick to the Day60 thing.

The whole world is a brain scenario from an old UFO game is actually in this, the underground base is surrounded by Bio-matter that makes up the brain.

The moon may feature in a future DLC, due to the fact its in the scanning computer :P (you can see it easily in 3d Vision though)

Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

I managed to beat the game on Impossible 3 days after release... there was a LOT of reloading

Started using the trainer for a bit of fun on my 3rd run though as I sorta wanted to make a "death squad" but weird layout.

I too was disappointed. Put most of it in the 'good or bad' thread, but it was a simple ending to a simple game. A couple of boss fights, cute little cutscene, and we're done. I suppose there's room in the sequel/DLC for the Ethereal Ones to show up.

The originals didn't have much more storyline than Independence Day (they're there to kill us all), but I would have loved it if this remake had enhanced that story. Probably because I would personally love to see a sequel play underwater. With today's graphics, that would be incredible.

I probably loved the UFO-storyline the best. The earth becoming a supercomputer experiment, in a bit more violent way than Douglas Adams. Complete with rebel aliens and politics. I'm actually replaying them now, currently playing Aftershock.

Well, the news about the Steam Achievements for DLC is all over the Interwebz now. None of them seem to add anything to the storyline though.

I agree completely the ending is highly disappointing for a game so much work went into. I mean you get a nasa clap when bringing down the first ufo and the alien base, why not after saving the world? The game gives an excuse that the project is still secret but by the ending everyone has seen the aliens, at the very least all the civilians you saved. So there is no excuse not to have a ticker tape parade

Found this in the steam news section of the game:

XCOM: Enemy Unknown DLC hinted at in hidden achievements [possible spoilers]

I agree that the ending was somewhat dissapointing, but only in the sense that it was predictable and has been done many times before. But it is for that exact reason that I thought the ending was good. Sure it leaves alot of questions that still need answering, but I was satisfied with the ending because for the first time in AGES, a game made me actually CARE about the soldier who made the classic "ultimate sacrifice". A soldier I built from nothing to become a powerful psionic Colonel suited up with the best technology man has ever made. Usually I'd play through a game from start to finish and not give two ****s that the main character or some of his friendlies died, but XCOM was different. Basically the game achieved what they've always achieved, a special connection between commander and soldier .

But that's just my opinion >.>
