I have the latest update from Steam v1.12.5.7, and when I load the trainer then load game I hit F1 and get no "activated" message at the main menu, has anyone here have this issue before?

make sure your f-lock key is on. disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software. right click run as admin on trainer.
