Strange I typed a long message explaining dunking possibilities but it does not show up.
Basicly to dunk you have to press and hold down the sprint button which is left shift and then press and hold down the shoot button which is /. Start holding down the shoot button when you get inside the paint near the basket, while still holding the spring button and your character will dunk. Make sure to fill in your dunk slots in animations all 15 of them.
Also try and get your stamina, ball handling and dunk stats high.
As a test in 2k12, I loaded up my player with 99 dunk rating and used a number of packages, I could dunk from one to three steps away from the rim.
Not tried '13 yet but I'm guessing it's the same mechanics. Am I the only one, to add to dunking woes, that feels accomplished when I block a dunk? Case in point, 2k12 myplayer, I had Kobe go to dunk on me in the first quarter, I hit block and wasn't perfectly positioned, I rejected the heck outta that dunk and it got swatted down and went out of bounds. Also, has anyone figured out what the dunk intensity is for and how to raise it up? (I repeated the dunk blocking trick with the Sonics vs MJ's Bulls, that was several times more epic)
I am not sure about the actual dunk range. All I know is that you have to press and hold down both the sprint and the shoot button while being close to the basket.
I find it hard to block dunks unless you go for the shooting foul on the way up. The person I find really hard to defend against is Dwight Howard from the LA Lakers. But it sure feels good blocking dunks and shots.
The dunk intensity is imo affected by a few factors. First the speed you are to build up running to the enemy basket. Second the kind of dunk packages you have equipped, the windmill, the 360's and under the basket packages have cool animations. When I am able to run towards the basket uncontested and build up alot of speed I usually get atleast a dunk intensity of 80 or higher.
In character upgrades you can also buy something called highlight reel, which makes your character try and go for the most exotic dunk.
Lol I found out that making an allround center at 7,2 can dunk better then an athletic center at the same height.... WTF?
My allround center with the same signature skills does sick dunks like under the leg 360 dunks. And my athletic 1 does the less athletic windmill dunks usually and leaning slams. Both are cool but still prefer the 360 dunk
Don't pick the defensive center unless all you want to do is block shots, get rebounds and do standing under the basket dunks and mid range shots.
