I always have unlimited health on even when I get invaded. However I do not attack an invader and instead let them attack me and back stab me until they realize I'm not going to die. It isn't fair to them if I can kill them but they can't kill me. Also I never invade someone's game because I don't care enough to. So far I've only been invaded three times. The first guy left after a couple of minutes, the second tried to get me to fall off a bridge and ended up killing himself and the last wouldn't leave. He stayed for at least 30 minutes even after I forced him to heal several times. I felt I had to kill him because he wouldn't leave and let me continue the game.
Sorry but no. Do not use the trainer online. Note if I come across anyone online doing the same. I will report Them. Sorry but the trainer is not made to be used online! So do not use it online. Heck if you are not going to invide why are you even in that mode anyway!
I am considering purchasing this game via Steam to use the trainer. I only ever play Single Player games. Is there a chance like the sequel that I will encounter problems (like authenticating online, etc)? My internet is pretty much always on. Is it safer to play this game offline (and request an offline key for the trainer)? Or is this game different to Dark Souls 2? Any positive advice is appreciated, thanks.

Stay hollow and the likelihood of being invaded is nil (Don't become human in other words). It doesn't matter if you're online or not. As long as you don't invade anyone else and you don't have lots of sin (killing lots of NPCs) then you don't have to worry about being invaded.
You can also get sin from attacking (but not killing) NPCs and/or changing covenants without having your sin expulsed by the guy in the bell tower over the Undead Parish.
