Is crazily addictive. Games are only meant to take 30-45mins. Yeah right. I've sunk hours into it so far trying to actually win
Anyone else playing/played it or plan to get it? If you plan to grab it, DO SO! It's great.
Though, I'm quietly hoping for a trainer from you guys, the end boss, even with the recommended build whips my butt every time, even with me playing it sneakily (beaming guys in, taking down the weapons then going from there)

Wow, I'd really love a trainer for this too. I've sunk hours into the randomly generated worlds; done terrible and great at this game too. It's so insanely hard at times!

It's been compared to stuff like Binding of Isaac, but IMO it's more like Nethack.
I've messed about in CoSMOS for a bit but I can only seem to change the scrap amounts and not anything else (skills, fuel/missiles/etc), hull health resets if you change it then unpause. However, having 75,500 scrap doesn't actually make it too easy. Every time I tried it, I get boarded at the next jump. I'm just gonna go with a crew of Mantis and sit back and laugh
EDIT: Okay, some tips I found out.
Burst laers may seem good, but they aren't. They don't fire fast enough to suppress shields, you need a good mix of weapons. I got to the end boss on Easy with a Burst laser III x3 and one Pegasus missile setup, with everything maxed out.
Problem with that is the lasers take too long to charge up so that they can't keep the shields down, yes you may get a volley off, but by the time the weapons recharge, the shields are back again.
I can't for the life of me get the stealth ship. I came close to getting the mantis pirate one....I lost my last crewmember by blowing the ship up
On a related note, anyone feel like poking around the .sav files? I got a legit reason for asking, I got the heal from 1hp achievement done, but it didn't register at all. I'm not sure if that's from a store or a drone healing arm or hull repair drone.

+1 Just about to buy it, looks fun, but I'm so bad at games I'll need a trainer eventually.

More tips:
First off, save up your scrap. Keep 100-200 in reserve at all times, so you can get the equipment at stores.
Secondly, rotate your crew around. Suppose you have 6 on the Kestrel, switch them around the pilot/guns/shields/engine stations and repairing stuff so the whole crew gets experience and not just a select few, if those few die then you are screwed, whereas if the whole crew has experience you can slot them in where needed.
Lastly, don't be afraid to run from fights if you think you'll get beat.
Upgrades: Go for what suits you, but as a rule, I go for shields then weapons first, favoring the idea that I can take more damage than I can dish out.

Yeah, I play it too. Missed the kickstarter so I'm fresh into it. It's great, still haven't been able to complete it yet. I always end up exploding in equally tragic or unforeseeable ways. A definite must buy for people who like 2D games which aren't a total cakewalk.
