I am having the same issue, it is strange. Not running anything but the Prepare to Die edition 2.0 update and the trainer. I can activate the trainer, then when I start playing and try to activate any features, it says activated but there is no effect. Then, after a few seconds of continued gameplay, the game crashes and the trainer also sometimes crashes at the same time. I've also noticed frequently that when running the trainer, if I switch windows back to the trainer to check the hotkeys, the trainer is all messed up where the only part of the window that pulls up is an ad for another trainer, nothing else is there (not a blank window or anything, there actually is no window except for the little rectangular ad that is supposed to be in the bottom-right of the trainer window.) When this happens, the trainer program cannot be closed except by forcing the process to end via task manager.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, .Net updated and everything, no security software even installed on the computer right now.
For those who can't run the trainer correctly, i had the same problem. I checked in steam library > Dark Souls properties > Betas > selected none and everything worked.
For some reason i can't remember why i selected that beta option but that was the problem. Hope it helped. Have a nice PLAY ! 🙂

Because the "Beta" version is the No GFWL version.

FYI, this did actually fix things for me, so they must have patched the regular version of Dark Souls to include the "No GFWL", but not have removed the "Beta" version.
My hp Still disappears when i activate the easy kill option even on the "Improved" version as well AND i still get charged as one of my 5 dl's for the month.
the 'improved' option was improved and remains working the same since 2012. We will be removing this option since 5 people were vocal about it the last 3 years.
best,
Cal
