I just thought I'd let you guys know, I think I may have found out what's causing the crashes and I've found that blocking Shogun 2's connection to the internet has suddenly stopped the trainer from crashing the game.

It's going to need to be tested but so far I've been able to play without a single hitch with the options enabled, I don't know yet whether this means you'll have to block the connection every time you want to play Shogun 2 with cheats but I just thought I'd post this as a work around for anyone feeling frustrated.

If you go into the firewall settings, you'll find that Shogun 2 has already sneakily installed itself there so it can stop you from cheating in an offline game >_<

Edit: Just found that going into battles still crashes it, auto-fight works okay thought from what I've discovered.

Shouldn't have jumped to conclusions there :P

A trainer if causing major problems in game would continue to do so with or without a net connection.

    Shogun 2 was buggy.

Yeah, I think CA's programming peaked at around Rome Total War then it all went downhill from there, I found blocking the connections fixed things for awhile but then it started booting me out again.

I was patient with CA because when they put the effort in they can make solid games, but most companies are just DRM obsessed lately.

Don't mean to come across as a rabid fanboy, but whilst S2 has had some issues, it and its expansions are the best TW's since M2 or Rome, in terms of presentation, quality and polish (Multiplayer notwithstanding, largely because I don't really care about mp! )

The problems with the crashes with the trainer aren't due to bugs, but the game itself actively hunting for hacks/exploits/rogue code. Whilst it's a pain in the behind, it's technically a feature.

The worst thing in the world you could possibly call a feature is something you added deliberately that makes the game experience worse for everyone.

If you want anti-cheat, put it in multiplayer, you don't put it in singleplayer where it doesn't affect anyone, either that or you provide some simple cheat codes like we used to have. The only good total war games in my view were the original Shogun and Rome.

Shogun 2 is okay, but with the A.I cheating and anti-cheat software it seems like they've completely half-assed it. I also don't like how the A.I is programmed generally to be a complete ass and doesn't give you reasons on why its about to declare war on you when you've just killed off some of their enemies etc.

Nope, sorry, but whenever I see someone defending a bad game I can't help but think they're a marketing employee.

No, it IS a feature, because like it or not, single player and multiplayer are combined in this game, due to the drop in battles. I don't care for it because multiplayer isn't my thing, but that's why multiplayer cheat protection is present in every aspect of it.
A feature we don't like, to be sure, but a feature all the same.

Also, you think I'm a blind fanboy and/or a marketing drone just because I like something that you don't?
