Use notepad++ to scroll to line 26175.

And edit every positive cost to "1" or "01", depending on how many numbers are used.

yea that is what i did too, i edited the points with notepad++ but my game got stuck in a loop on the loading screen after starting up the game, haha

Just shave off a number from the traits that have double digit point costs, then ramp up each races' affinity cost to 999.

Say, fans, is it me or did they change something with a patch?

Because I just tried modding this for the first time, but both Notepad++ and UltraEdit show me the file in Hex-Mode, it seems they somehow packed it or something. (Or I may stupidly miss some obvious important step here, dunno.) This goes for all .assets files, by the way.

I *did* stupidly miss something important. Who would figure?
It seems on a previous modding session for another game, I switched to Hex mode manually and did not change it back afterwards.
Now, where's that facepalm smilie when you need it?

Well Update 8/10/2012 general fix patch for the game seems to have hidden the affinity points for each race.. i had modded the game prior to this.. but its all gone now and cant find the references in the file to fix it.. still im not giving up but just thought i'd give people a heads up maybe if i dont find a solution someone else can... any word on a modding tool for this game yet??

Hm. All the assets-files are just a big mess of stuff(tm) for me using Notepad++ (tried several other equivalent programs aswell). Its a clean install of it and I haven't changed anything. Any clues to what I'm doing wrong? Any help much appreciated
