People wouldn't know quality gaming even if it came and slapped them in the face.
Just sayin'
You mean like how we got slapped with the DRM? And I don't know who has been slapping you, but if you're not disoriented and stumbling around the room after a slap, it's not a proper slap. So if quality gaming came around and issued slaps, I'd play nothing but terrible games.
On-topic, right. D3 isn't a terrible game. It's not even a bad game. But it was made by terribly bad people that know exactly how hard they can wring their customers' necks without losing any of them.
I don't find the protection scheme intrusive, so im not one of the moaning massive out there.
Again when people moaned about it having this kind of protection they just moaned about it when they finally got it and wanted to go back to physical media again, but again it was mostly by the warez users who complained when they finally realised that online protection = harder to get your free copy. And it was all evident with Assassin's Creed 2, for over a month people cried about it.
I never bought it, myself. I played at a friend's house, and after about a week with it he came back to Path of Exile with me. If you're going to require online authentication and whatnot, at least make it an MMO, know what I mean?
But anyway, I understand why they did it. I understand why they implemented the real money auction house, and I have no problem with online play requiring a login. I just don't understand why they couldn't at least give us the option to play offline.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but LAN and offline functionality are still a pretty big part of how I enjoy MP. Toss everyone's keys in the fishbowl and lock the doors, no internet (amended to no TVTropes these days), play until you pass out. You know, how games should be. Days when I can't play StarCraft and Diablo without breaking the internet rule are sad indeed.

This game isn't anything special. Just a repetitive adventure game with hack/slash elements. My motivation to complete each difficulty level is decreasing rather fast now (Hell difficulty and I'm progressing through it with no trouble at all).
Diablo II was executed better. The main problem with Blizzard's newer games is the overhaul of the Battle.net system. They removed so many elements to try and focus on integrating the gameplay and the social aspect of it. This was a huge mistake. The classic Battle.Net was a very good IRC type of chat system that did not force itself into the gameplay and left it extremely simple for in-game chatting. This helped develop a hacker-ish style community which was loved by many. That feel was completely destroyed in SC2 nor in Diablo III. This is the main reason why I spent almost a decade on Brood War and I can guarantee that I will never invest as much time as I would in D3 nor in SC2 as much as I did with BW.

Repetitive adventure with hack/slash...
Just like Diablo 2?
They kept the formula, but the difficulty increases and the randomness of some of the maps keeps it a replayable title, and being the first game where you can legally earn money from is another amazing thing.
D3 is IMHO bigger than D2.
Personally I think you have been soured by it before getting it, as you know there was a lot of negativity with it, even you were negative.
But you also have to remember not a lot of games out there are refreshing and non-repetitive. So its not like its uniquely repetitive.

Protection system NOT intrustive and DRM is ok? Here is a word for you that shows how DRM should be done: STEAM
