if you're getting it for pc be prepared to do a bit of work trying to get it to run (im assuming you have windows 7), the game was made for xp and more often than not, running it in xp compatibility mode isnt enough to get the game running smoothly...But, once you get it right its a very fun game, especially with all the great mods out there.
on my game i've got about 4 or 5 mods that make it even more enjoyable to play. my favorite mod has to be the 'wield duel double bladed saber mod'...pretty kick-ass
oh yea, in regards to using a trainer on this game, it would be easier IMO to use the Kotor Savegame Editor program instead. its easy to use and gives you much more power over your game than a trainer could hope to give. you can edit anything from level and exp to force powers, feats, and inventory(from a master inventory list of every item available in the game), and not just for you, but for your entire party of NPC's

I will probably be asking you many questions in the future...
KOTOR 1 isn't going to run all that well...if it does at all...on Win7. believe me i've tried...it ran for a while then...hung up. i gave up after a while.
That is strange I have played both on Windows 7 with no problems.
