I want to buy the DLC's for this game, but I fear the trainer will not work if I do. Has anyone tested this? Although I would want both to work, I rather had the trainer on a simple game, then a DLC with no trainer.

I don't own this game, but with most DLC they don't change the main .exe file at all. Some DLC may require a specific patch or higher version to run.
So it is very possible it will work.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA
