First. I went to www.ubisoft.com and searched for the latest patch (1.4), downloaded it and installed it.
Next. I clicked on Start > Computer > Far Cry\Bin32 folder.
Then Right click on FarCry.exe and selected properties from the list. I then selected the Compatibility tab and checkmarked the Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3), down bottom, under Privilege Level I checkmarked Run this program as an admimistrator.
Now it is working fine in Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
My computer specs are:
Intel i7 870 @2.93
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM
Nvidia GTX470 1280MB GDDR5
thanks for your excellent post

Thanks for the help, Mark, but I followed your directions with slight variation: The patch was attempting to install files to C:\Program Files (86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\FarCry\
however, there was not "Crytek" subfolder in my computer, so I changed the destination directory to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\FarCry\
And after the installation finished, I Changed the shortcut I had created ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DevMode) to run as admin and in WinXP compatiblity mode.
I ran the trainer program and then opened the shortcut, clicked BackSpace and tried some of the commands, but couldn't get any of them to work.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
