I just made it to the first island. Textures and items pop up like crazy and the trees get larger and smaller by nearing them. Is it normal or just my card, which gets extremely hot (ati 6950 2gb)? I have all options on high/ultra and about 50 fps.

Oh lordy, I hope Nvidia doesn't run into any issues.

Madat I have the exact same issue/card as you and yea it gets pretty hot. This game is a lot more GPU intensive than normal. But it works out for me cuz I have a sucky cpu at 2.5ghz, and its not OCable cuz its a dell prebuilt
Here's to hoping they fix the popping issue in a future patch.

It happens on my computer (GTX 480) as well, but there is a solution to some of the pop-up problems. In \Risen 2 Dark Waters\data\ini (game folder) there is an XML file called ConfigDefault.
NOTE: Make a backup (zip etc.) of the ini folder or the XML file before editing.
Open the file with Notepad or Notepad++ (with colors) and look for the following values: Omit parentheses because the real file uses < > but those are not allowed on these forums!
Increasing the values will increase the draw distance of graphical elements in the game. Note: Medium and High have the same default values so when you change High and wish to reset a value you can always look at the previous lines in the code.
A good place to test these settings is on the wall at the beginning where you can see a ship and at the pirate camp once you arrive at the island. The latter is better because you can walk pretty far away from the camp with it still being in your sight. This allows you to find the distances where objects and the likes are not rendered.
I have yet to find a solution for the vegetation changing in size while you are on the move but there might be one.

I don't think the vegetation changing size is actually a bug, I think its DeepSilver's cheap way of appearing to render larger amounts of foliage at a distance than is actually there. Its best noticed when entering caves etc. From a distance the cave entrance appears obscured by the drastically scaled up foliage, but as you near the bushes etc shrink revealing the cave. Gothic 3 had the exact same thing.
