Dem Spam Links boys!
lol
There has been contact lenses on the market for a number of years that is great vision enhancers, so spammer OP has introduced nothing new :P
...For once, I can finally direct a firm and flat "What." your way and not be opinionated. I'm not sure what OP's link actually directed to, but what the rest of the post is about is this: Link
It's basically the first step towards a proper Future Force Warrior HUD system that isn't logistically pants-on-head.
These types of HUD's have been around for a long time, jet fighters have had them on their visors for many decades now :P
As for small lens types they would need a projector that projects the digital image into the lens, essentially direct to the eye, and it will have to be a low frequency type, lasers would be a no no :P
Wow, totally forgot about this topic until it popped up again. Again, it's about increasing the FOV of the human eye and having the tech to actually project a HUD with a contact lenses and glasses combo rather than a visor + static monitor combo.
@Demoneyes45 - Well, I like to think the scientists who shoot down (har har har) the idea of gun arms just aren't thinking far enough ahead. I mean, science has disproved gravity (the specifics behind it, anyway) before, so I wouldn't count anything out!
That being said, I'd totally give up an eye (keep one of my own, just in case) to get some awesome NVG/IR eyeball replacement!
Well, i did some work as a SEAL sniper back in the 60's and was taught to keep both eyes open when sighting, otherwise you lose half your field of vision and a bad guy might be closing in on you.......and that ain't good!!!!
Well, with this I could see actual open holographic optics with digital zoom becoming the big thing, especially if it's not limited to one overlaying display. I mean, regardless this is supposed to increase your field of view at its core, so if anything giving it to shooters would just boost situational awareness while using sighting.
